Lewis Hamilton is a great champion, but he is more than that. The Briton fights racism, cares about the environment, is an advocate for more diversity and he cares about minorities. Hamilton is said to have made donations of 23 million euros to charities in recent months.
According to The Sunday Times, Hamilton donated to foundations that focus on aid for young people, education and employment, among other things. Hamilton's net worth is estimated at around €350 million, which means he has given away almost seven per cent of his total assets.
It puts Hamilton fifth place in the list of the UK's biggest benefactors. He is the first sportsman in this ranking, followed by Liverpool player Mo Salah.
Hamilton himself earns around 40 million dollars a year. So the Mercedes driver is well-off anyway, but that does not make the gesture any less grand. Last year Hamilton also donated 20 million pounds to his own organisation Mission 44.
