FIA adjusts grid box after problems

The FIA has made changes to drivers' grid boxes in Australia. At the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, penalties were handed out because a driver was too far outside of his starting position.

Two changes will be made to make it easier for drivers to start in the correct position reports Spanish journalist Albert Fabrega. The grid box will be twenty centimetres wider and there will be a line in the middle of the starting positions. This allows drivers to better judge where exactly the centre of their starting position is, so they are less likely to be too far to the left or right.

In Bahrain, Esteban Ocon received a penalty for not lining up correctly at the start. The Frenchman was too far to the right, causing him to be outside the lines of his grid box. He received a five-second time penalty for this. The same thing happened to Fernando Alonso in Saudi Arabia, only he was too far to the left. The Spaniard was also given a five-second time penalty for this.
