Red Bull Racing junior Ayumu Iwasa has won the Formula 2 sprint race in Saudi Arabia. The DAMS driver beat off several attacks by Jehan Daruvala and Victor Martins in the closing stages of the race.

Iwasa wins, Verschoor P16

Victory was for Iwasa, who had started fourth and immediately managed to gain two places there. Not long after, he took over the lead from Jak Crawford, but that was not long-lasting. A spin by Zane Maloney brought out the safety car and it would not be the last.
Not long after the restart, championship leader Theo Pourchaire drove into Oliver Bearman, after which the two crashed together. This was followed by another safety car. After the race was released again, Iwasa managed to retain the lead in clever fashion by repeatedly fending off attacks from Martins and Darvula. Martins took second place from Daruvala in the closing stages, who had to settle for P3.
