Dan Ticktum clinched his first ever victory in Formula E in a thrilling Jakarta E-Prix, with Edoardo Mortara and Nico Müller completing the podium in second and third place respectively. A major disappointment for Nyck de Vries, who was forced to retire after already serving a penalty for a collision with Jake Dennis. The Formula E race in Jakarta unfolded under challenging conditions: tropical heat, demanding energy management, and a circuit that showed no mercy for errors. Nyck de Vries seemed to have everything under control. Starting from third on the grid, he quickly moved up to second and remained a strong contender for a podium finish for much of the race.
A chaotic race in Jakarta
While the front of the field remained relatively calm for much of the race, tensions escalated once the first Attack Modes were activated. As drivers like Edoardo Mortara and Nico Müller fought their way up from the back, Nyck de Vries and Jake Dennis became locked in a fierce battle. The duel ended poorly, with contact causing damage to Dennis and a hefty ten-second time penalty handed to de Vries.
The final phase of the race was chaotic. Multiple
retirements — including Dennis himself — and a safety car turned the field upside down. Frijns took advantage and moved up towards the points, while De Vries eventually had to seek the pits and retire his race.
The big surprise came from
Dan Ticktum. Emerging from all
the chaos in a leading position, he held on and thus claimed his first
victory in Formula E. Mortara and Mueller joined him on the podium.
