Mick Schumacher was on his way to his first podium finish of the season in the Formula 2 sprint race on Sunday morning when a bizarre incident stopped his race just before the end: The fire extinguisher in his cockpit went off.
Schumacher started the race from fifth place and had worked his way up to third place, including teammate and yesterday's winner Robert Shwartzman. Suddenly, however, Mick went into the pits. It was only after the repetition of the onboard video that it became clear what went wrong.
The race was won by the Dane Christian Lundgaard, one of the Renault juniors. And an hour earlier the Formula 3 race was won by 16-year-old talent Théo Pourchaire. Olli Caldwell and Max Fewtrell were sixth and seventh.
