Marelli Motorsport and OMP Racing recently announced that the developed biometric fireproof shirt had been approved by the FIA. This shirt can read all kinds of physical information and send it to the team at the pit wall. This includes stress, fatigue, heart rate and breath. Max Verstappen may be the first driver to use the shirt.

VISM shirt

The Italian Corriere della Sera writes on Tuesday that Max Verstappen is the first driver to use the VISM shirt during a race. The Vital Signs Monitor shirt is fire resistant, so it meets the requirements of an ordinary t-shirt. In the case of Verstappen it would be a test, after which the shirt might be used more in the future.
The practical usefulness of the shirt is especially important in case of problems on the track. In the event of a crash, the team immediately receives the most important information, but they can also see in advance how the body reacts from the data. For example, before the impact actually follows. All of this may be necessary for the proper assistance in the event of a serious accident.
It is not yet clear when Verstappen will start wearing the shirt during a race. The Dutchman himself has not yet made any statements about this.
