It will be Norris’ 150th race start for McLaren F1 team, drawing him alongside David Coulthard for the all-time record.
Coulthard raced 150 times for McLaren between 1996 and 2004, achieving 12 race wins with the team.
At just 26 years old Norris is almost certain to equal Coulthard’s record for McLaren race starts in Las Vegas. A win around the City of Lights would similarly be Norris’ 12th for the team.

Norris has already overtaken two McLaren legends this season. In Japan he equalled two-time world champion with McLaren Mika Hakkinen’s tally of 131 race starts with the team.
While in Monaco Norris not only claimed victory but also equalled Jenson Button in third place with 136 starts.
With his current contract with the Woking-based team set to expire in 2027, it is likely that Norris will extend his record into the future.

Seven years and counting

Having joined the McLaren junior programme in 2017, Norris was promoted to a full-time race seat in 2019 aged just 19 following an impressive F2 season on debut.
Paired alongside Carlos Sainz in an all-new lineup, Norris finished strong P11 in the championship with 11 points finishes to his name. A P6 finish in only his second race in Bahrain was a particular highlight.
It was a breakthrough year for Norris in 2020 as he achieved his first F1 podium in a Covid-delayed first race in Austria. He followed this with four more podium finishes and a career-first pole position in Russia a year later as he out-performed proven race-winning teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
With a new set of regulations in 2022, Norris achieved a podium just once in Imola and was the only driver outside Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes to do so.

Norris rises as team leader and race winner

Now a team leader alongside rookie Oscar Piastri in 2023, the team started slowly but came good in the second half of the year with a string of podium finishes.
A race winner for the first time in Miami, Norris pushed Verstappen to a late title charge in 2024 and scored four race wins on his way to the runner-up spot. McLaren were also crowned constructors champions for the first time since 1998.
With just three races remaining in 2025, Lando Norris leads the championship by 24 points over Piastri. With seven wins and a total of 17 podiums so far, is 2025 his chance to bring the drivers title back to McLaren for the first time since Lewis Hamilton in 2008?

Norris breaks Schumacher 30-year-old record

Norris set a new record by winning his first 11 Formula 1 races at 11 different circuits with victory at the Brazil GP, surpassing Michael Schumacher’s mark of 10.
Norris’ first win came in Miami 2024, followed by victories in the Netherlands, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi that same year. Seven more wins followed in 2025 with the MCL39, all at different tracks. Read the full story here.
