With Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari has a driver who is getting quite old at forty years old. The Scuderia is also thinking about the future and may add a talent to its Formula 1 driver pool, as GPblog can confirm.

Rafael Camara is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and prematurely took the title in Formula 3 last weekend in Hungary. Combined with the points that the twenty-year-old Brazilian won in various FRECA series, he has enough points thanks to the F3 championship to apply for a super license.

With this license, Camara can participate in Grands Prix. Whether this will actually happen in the short term is uncertain. Camara recently told GPblog that he had not yet had sessions in the Ferrari F1 team simulator, let alone that he participated in a Test of Previous Cars (TPC).

Competition from Beganovic

With the F3 title under his belt, it is expected that Camara will soon announce the transition to Formula 2. Dino Beganovic, also from the Ferrari Driver Academy, currently participates in this class. The Swede had enough points in the past seasons for a super license. Beganovic has now participated in two free training sessions in F1, in Bahrain and Austria.

In theory, this trajectory is also possible for Camara. Moreover, the Brazilian could even step in during a Grand Prix, if Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc are not available.
