After canceling the race weekends in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the Formula 2 organization is trying to stage races in Miami and Canada, GPblog understands. On Tuesday, discussions are being held to get the young talents in action at these circuits, where F2 normally does not race. A decision is expected shortly thereafter.
It is not yet known whether there will be racing in both Miami and Canada, or if only one location will be chosen. In any case, there is room during the F1 weekend at both circuits for the series to race.
For F2, an additional race is far from a luxury. Without it, there would be a gap until June after the Australian weekend. That is far too long for the young talents.
A visit to the United States would be great for
Colton Herta. The American has competed in IndyCar in recent seasons, and would give him the chance to drive on home soil.
What about F3?
Formula 3 may also race at one of these North American circuits. For these young drivers, only Bahrain was removed from their schedule. Racing at both circuits does not seem logical due to the additional costs.
