Andretti Cadillac, the intended eleventh team on the Formula 1 grid, plans to use engines from Alpine. This is confirmed by Michael Albano, a spokesman for General Motors, which includes the Cadillac brand, to GPblog. "That is likely, they are working on an agreement," he said.
Alpine's engines are branded 'Cadillac' by Andretti Cadillac. This is similar to Aston Martin now, which uses Mercedes' engines. Red Bull Racing - if in 2026 the engines are actually manufactured in-house and (probably) no longer by Honda - is open to naming the Red Bull Powertrains after a car brand. In this way, Max Verstappen 's team had wanted to work with Porsche.

Own engines?

General Motors (GM) is among the world's biggest car manufacturers. For example, GM is active in IndyCar with the Chevrolet brand. GM is also active in other racing classes with home-made cars and engines. Whether GM will eventually manufacture its own engines for the F1 adventure with Andretti is unknown. "I can't speculate on that," says Albano. "Anything is possible."
Andretti announced earlier on Thursday that it had found a partner in Cadillac. The FIA welcomed the news, but has not yet made a commitment on Andretti's actual entry into Formula 1. Earlier, teams in F1 were not in favour of a newcomer. However, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem revealed last week that he is open to new teams.
