The FIA Stewards have delivered their verdict on Carlos Sainz’s incident involving Lance Stroll during the Las Vegas Grand Prix qualifying.
The Williams driver had earlier received a summon to the stewards after he appeared to have impeded Stroll when he joined the track in an unsafe manner during Q1.
However, after reviewing the incident, the stewards decided that no further action was needed following discussions with the driver and the Williams team representative.
In their statement, the stewards noted that Sainz did not cause any issue for the Aston Martin driver, who was on a flying lap, and also did not consider his manner of rejoining the track to be unsafe.

They concluded by highlighting the poor visibility due to adverse weather conditions and the presence of yellow flags as factors that could have otherwise justified a sanction for Sainz.
It’s worth noting that Sainz, who qualified in P3 for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, had been under investigation for the incident involving the Canadian driver. The Spanish driver will keep his second-row start for the race under the lights on the Vegas Strip.
