Red Bull and FIA reveal Deal: This is the punishment for Verstappen's team

After it was initially brought out by the FIA that Red Bull had exceeded the budget cap in 2021, the soap opera that was playing out around the issue anyway exploded. There was plenty of speculation from rival teams, although this included replacing Red Bull's name with 'a team that exceeded the budget cap'.

This led to great frustration among team boss Christian Horner, who told at the press conference before the US Grand Prix what impact the accusations and speculation were having on team members. Ahead of the two free practice sessions in Mexico, the matter has finally been clarified.

Meanwhile, Red Bull and the FIA have reached an agreement. Part of the agreement involves reducing the team's time in the wind tunnel by seven per cent. Since Red Bull became constructors' champion, this penalty hurts extra, because as world champions, a team is allowed to spend considerably less time in the wind tunnel than its rivals the following year anyway. They would get 70 per cent, that will now be 73 per cent.

On top of the penalties imposed, Red Bull will have to pay a fine to the FIA. Of all the penalties, however, this one will hurt the least, as it does not have to be paid from the set budget for an F1 season. The amount on this is set at $7 million.

Furthermore, Red Bull will also have to pay all procedural costs incurred. Red Bull has agreed to all these penalties, thus confirming that it was at fault.
