It was almost a certainty that the protest against Racing Point's car would be continued, but now the teams are really coming into action. Five teams, including Racing Point itself, had already indicated last weekend that they intend to challenge the FIA's decision.
The FIA decided after investigation due to a protest from Renault that the parts that should cool the brakes at the Racing Point are illegal. These would come directly from the drawing board of Mercedes and those parts are on the blacklist since the start of this season. Racing Point will be fined 400,000 euros and fifteen points will be deducted.
Ferrari is now the first team to confirm their intention to appeal this decision. The other teams that are likely to do so are Renault, McLaren, Williams and Racing Point, although the latter does so for another reason, of course. On the contrary, they want an acquittal. Those teams have until tomorrow morning to give their confirmation.
Ferrari is fighting the FIA decision for every Grand Prix since Renault protested.
