Oscar Piastri finished fastest at the end of FP2 at the Australian Grand Prix, in a session where the Mercedes-powered teams laid down a strong marker. The McLaren driver ended the session with a 1:19.729, two tenths clear of Kimi Antonelli and three ahead of George Russell, with three Mercedes-powered cars occupying the top three positions.
Fourth and fifth were the two Ferraris, with Lewis Hamilton ending the session ahead of his team-mate and just one thousandth behind Russell, while Max Verstappen endured a tricky outing and could only manage sixth, six tenths off the pace.
Lando Norris also endured a difficult session compared to his team-mate, finishing only seventh and a full second off the pace.
Eighth place went to Lindblad, confirming the strong showing from the morning session, with Isack Hadjar and Esteban Ocon rounding out the top 10.
More major problems for
Aston Martin, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll finishing 5.2 and 6 seconds off the leader respectively, confirming that the AMR26 is currently miles off the pace. Below are the full results.
