Ferrari's appeal to remove the five-second penalty that was given to Sebastian Vettel during the Canadian Grand Prix has been rejected by the stewards, after a hearing took place between Ferrari and the stewards to present new evidence.
It's been the talk of the town for the past two weeks. Vettel goes wide as he led the Canadian Grand Prix, onto the grass, and rejoins the track and blocks off Lewis Hamilton. The German gets a penalty, he gets very upset and loses the race because of it, and Ferrari appeal the decision.
Today, a final hearing was held between Laurent Mekies, technical director at Ferrari, and the Canadian Grand Prix stewards. Although there is no record of what new evidence was presented by Ferrari, the team still was confident to get the decision overturned.
Now, the FIA has released a statement saying Ferrari have lost their bid.
