Bad news for Leclerc: Ferrari reports that engine is written off

Ferrari has confirmed that Charles Leclerc's engine that gave up the ghost in Azerbaijan is beyond repair. There is therefore a good chance that Leclerc will incur a grid penalty in Canada.

Ferrari engine really broken

The bad luck for Leclerc continues to mount as, after losing races in Spain and Azerbaijan, there now appears to be something really wrong with the Ferrari engine. After an investigation by the Italian team, the engine has been found to be unusable. Because of this Leclerc will have to use an old engine, or take a penalty with a new engine.
If Leclerc takes an old engine he will lose power for the coming weekend, at a circuit where power is very important. A new engine is the obvious choice, but with three used turbos already, Leclerc would face a ten-place grid penalty. The question is whether Leclerc and his team want to take that penalty in Montreal.
