In 2021 the cars were supposed to remain the same, but there are some important changes for the new season. In a new video from Mercedes, James Allison explains exactly what will change.

The new rules of 2021

2021 was supposed to be the year of the new aerodynamic regulations, but due to the coronavirus, these regulations were postponed for a year. So 2021 will be an interim year, but with complications. Because Pirelli cannot supply tyres that can cope with the extra downforce, the floor will have to be changed.
Although much remains the same, teams always manage to find just a bit more downforce in the existing regulations. This, however, is a problem for Pirelli, which is already running out of steam with the current tyres. The bottom line must therefore be simplified in 2021, and that is no small task. Allison explains what else had to be done before the start of the season.
