Hamilton grateful for fans after 91st GP win

In a video posted on the Mercedes twitter account Lewis Hamilton thanks his fans and the family of Michael Schumacher. He says he is honored to match Schumacher's race victory record.

Sitting in front of the camera with Michael Schumacher's helmet, handed to him by his son Mick, the Briton says he feels grateful and honored. "I am forever grateful for all of you supporting me during that time and believing in me through thick and thin.”

Hamilton also says he misses the fans during the race weekends, and hopes that, in these turbulent times, "we can harness the positivity through these moments.”

Equalling Schumacher's record at the previous GP is all the more special for the Mercedes driver because he was a fan from a very young age. "I remember watching the GPs at home and watching Michael win."
