Insane! NASCAR driver assaults colleague after collision

A bizarre incident in NASCAR. A driver has been suspended for the rest of the season for beating up a competitor to the point of bleeding. The reason for the beating was an incident during the closing stages of the Truck Race at Talladega Speedway last weekend.

On lap 91 of the race, Matt Crafton and Nick Sanchez hit each other. As a result, several cars spun off the track. Sanchez was eventually able to continue, but Crafton had to abandon the battle. After the race, Crafton made his way to Sanchez's pit box. This initially resulted in a strong altercation. Eventually, Crafton also dealt blows, which caused a bloodied face to the rookie. Crafton furthermore promised to take revenge in the next race.

It is now clear that the 47-year-old American is not going to get a chance to do so. Indeed, NASCAR was implacable and imposed a suspension on him for the rest of the season. Crafton must also pay a $25,000 fine. Sanchez was fined $5,000, and will be allowed to finish the season. His father, on the other hand, is not welcome at the closing races. NASCAR did impose a suspension on him for the rest of 2023.
