After Lewis Hamilton broke his silence on social media last weekend, it is starting to look more and more like we will see the Briton back on the grid next season. The German magazine Bild now reports that the seven-time world champion will continue as usual and will sit out his contract with Mercedes.
Hamilton's contract runs until the end of 2023, so the Briton would remain active at Mercedes for at least two more seasons. According to Bild, the driver is said to have visited the Mercedes factory in Brackley today, where he did a seat fitting for the new 2022 car, which will be presented on February 18.

Hamilton stays?

For weeks there was speculation about Hamilton's future and rumors circulated that he was done with Formula One. The loss in Abu Dhabi against Max Verstappen would have been too great. However, Mercedes gave multiple hints on social media in recent weeks that the Brit will remain with the team. Hamilton also shared images of his training, with which he seems to be preparing for the season.
With the well-known seat fitting, it now seems certain that Hamilton will simply stay in F1. The 37-year-old still has a chance to win his eighth world title and break Michael Schumacher's record. It will certainly not be down to his motivation.
