McLaren Racing boss Zak Brown says that Fernando Alonso would be "immensely successful" if he were to join IndyCar, but admits that a full season in America isn't on the Spaniard's mind.
Alonso has twice entered the Indy 500 with a McLaren backed team, failing to qualify in a fairly embarrassing show for all parties in 2019.
With McLaren entering IndyCar full time in 2020 in partnership with Arrow SPM, naturally the Alonso links have surfaced again, with Brown telling Motorsport.com: "There are no plans yet, but Fernando remains under contract with McLaren and is of course a great friend of ours.
"I don't think his desire to win the Indy 500 has diminished, and neither of us to do it with him either.
He hasn't shown any interest in a full season in the IndyCar. He's just had twenty busy years behind him and wants to take his time to see what he will do in the future. I think he would be immensely successful in the IndyCar and would like it, but it is his decision."
