Toto Wolff has revealed he has been in contact with former Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton after his strong start to the 2026 season with Ferrari.
Hamilton, who suffered the worst season of his career in 2025, looks set to bounce back in the new regulation set this year, and scored a podium for Ferrari in the Sprint Race on Saturday (P3).
Wolff, meanwhile, is bouncing back himself, as Mercedes' George Russell extended his championship lead with a Sprint win in Shanghai.

Regardless of the Ferrari rivalry, Wolff appears to be delighted with Hamilton's revival, revealing messages he has exchanged with the driver who won six drivers' titles with him at Mercedes.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Hamilton's form, Wolff said: "Yeah, I was texting with him yesterday evening and said I'm happy to see that you enjoy the race, these cars, and he said 'yeah, I'm in a good place now.'"
Wolff also joked Hamilton was "Sherlock Holmes" after he was caught having a look at the W17 following Sprint Qualifying.
He also reflected on the Ferraris' pace, and was asked whether he was concerned by a late fight back after a Safety Car in the final laps.
"Yeah, I mean the Ferrari’s are really quick out of the box. I think that probably they overstretched the tyres a little bit, so without the safety car that would have been more difficult for them. But yeah, you know, this is a tough fight, especially in the first bits of the race.
Meanwhile, Wolff offered his thoughts on Kimi Antonelli's 10-second penalty following his collision with Isack Hadjar, the young Italian eventually finishing P5.
" I thought it could have been a five-second penalty, but you know at the end it's always difficult for the stewards to do the right thing."

Hamilton reveals Mercedes 'party mode' pace that Ferrari cannot match

Lewis Hamilton commented on Mercedes' clear pace advantage following a thrilling Sprint battle with the Silver Arrows.
In his post-race interview, Hamilton explained Mercedes have their advantage on the straights, and in the press conference, he further emphasised where Ferrari and co. are falling behind.
