Lewis Hamilton is a divisive character and Toto Wolff has come out in defence of his driver, insisting that many of the best sports stars "polarise".
Hamilton is one of Britains greatest ever athletes having won five Formula 1 World Championships and holding the record for the most poles set. The five-time World Champion is on course for a sixth title having won seven races this season.
However, the Brit is not the most popular character in his home country with many feeling the F1 legend is fake. His boss Toto Wolff has defended his star driver, insisting sports stars have to be polarising.
“For me many of the best sports stars in the world, they polarise," Wolff said as quoted by Motorsport.com.
"You will have heard similar comments about Serena Williams. Half of the people love her and want her to win everything, and the other ones cheer for the opponents.

"And I think you'd rather polarise than be down the middle and boring. That's my opinion.”
