Toto Wolff was not celebrating Mercedes' record breaking 63rd front row lockout after qualifying, instead concentrating on strategy for Sunday's race for the French Grand Prix.
Mercedes took yet another one-two at Circuit Paul Ricard, with Lewis Hamilton ahead of Valtteri Bottas in another near flawless performance.
There have been concerns about tyre life this weekend, with the soft tyres barely lasting a handful of laps on Friday, but Wolff believes that a one-stop is the only way for the race.
He told Sky Sports after the session: "It was a good weekend for us, the challenge is tomorrow to bring the tyres to the end and bring the race to an end.
"I think you need to have a one-stop strategy here because the pit lane is more than 23 seconds lost. The track should suit our car but we know that racing happens and we’ll do our best to bring it home."
