Mercedes once again outsmarted Red Bull Racing on strategy in Spain, so Red Bull will need to do some serious work on both their strategy and race pace.

The F1 Nation podcast discusses what Red Bull could have done differently in Spain. "Red Bull will be left with a lot of questions after that race. We've seen enough of both cars to know a bit more about their strengths and weaknesses: For example, the Red Bull's rear tyres wear faster than those of the Mercedes, which asks less of the tyres at both the front and rear," the analysts say.

They therefore think that Red Bull has more or less thrown in its own lenses. "That's why it was strange that Red Bull went for a one-stop strategy. They were actually worse off all weekend because they didn't have an extra set of mediums left for the race. So they were forced to take a route they didn't want to take. They made it even harder for themselves by driving with a low-downforce rear wing, which made the degradation of the rear tyres even worse."
