George Russell will no longer drive for Williams next year as he has signed a contract to drive for Mercedes alongside Lewis Hamilton. Because of this new contract, but also because of the good results of Williams, Russell notices that there is less pressure and the team can make better decisions.
Williams is currently eighth in the constructors' championship as they managed to score 23 points at the start of the season. This is the first time since 2017 that Williams will not finish last in the championship. In addition, the British Williams driver has been given a great contract with Mercedes. Both of these big events have largely taken the pressure off of him and the team.
"I think the fact we are in a position of relative comfort in the Constructors’ championship and also on a personal level everything confirmed for next year, I’m in a very stable position personally. [I can] just go out there and try new things and not be afraid to make some mistakes," said the 23-year-old driver at Motorsport Week.

Russell can push his limits

It's fair to say that the Briton is feeling good at the moment and he says he's really enjoying it. "I think the pressure’s been lifted off my shoulders for a while now, these first laps, and more confident to really attack and go for it."
