Max Verstappen is not yet an official world champion in 2023. The Dutchman will not be until he receives the World Championship trophy from the FIA. Read here when Verstappen will actually be handed that title.
An F1 championship is not official until the World Championship is awarded. Unlike other sports, that trophy is not awarded to the winner immediately after the final round or when he or she becomes champion mathematically. The FIA has a special event for this purpose.

When will Verstappen be handed his trophy?

The FIA Prize Giving Ceremony is the FIA's annual event to award all titles for the various racing classes under the motorsport federation. This includes the F1 World Championship. The FIA Prize Giving Ceremony will be held in Baku this year, where the Azerbaijan Grand Prix takes place.
The FIA Prize Giving Ceremony will be held on Friday, 8 December. It can also be followed at home with a live stream on the FIA's YouTube channel. Verstappen will be crowned world champion at this ceremony, and some other winners will also receive their titles. There are always additional prizes to be awarded for juniors and exceptional performances. You can follow the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony on Friday, 8 December, with GPblog.
