In 2022, the Miami Grand Prix is scheduled to take place for the first time. A brand new semi street circuit will be built around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. According to the CEO of the Hard Rock Stadium Tom Garfinkel, it will be a true spectacle.

Circuit itself always had priority

The Miami Grand Prix seemed to be announced for a long time and last week it finally happened. The Formula 1 and the city finally settled on a location near the Hard Rock Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins play their home games.
"The first priority was creating a great racing circuit, for the drivers, for fans, with multiple passing opportunities," Garfinkel says in conversation with The Race. The circuit has two long straights that require a lot of braking, these seem to be the biggest overtaking opportunities. Earlier this week Formula 1 already released a video of a virtual onboard lap.

Miami will be more than just a race track

But Garfinkel also believes there should be plenty to do away from the track. "It’s going to be completely transformed into a campus with landscaping and all kinds of different opportunities and food and beverage areas. We want to create an environment where people are blown away when they get there," says Garfinkel.
