Vettel garners praise with statements: 'The sport needs such a figurehead'

In recent years Sebastian Vettel has repeatedly taken a clear stand when it comes to environmental protection and equal rights. For this he deserves a lot of praise from the motorsport world, including W series driver Jessica Hawkins.

Hawkins praises the four-time world champion for looking beyond Formula 1. "He uses his celebrity to express what he feels," said the British driver at radio station talkSPORT. "Everything he does, he does with conviction. He means it."

The Racing X driver emphasizes that Vettel believes in what he stands for. "He doesn't do it for the show," she underlines. According to Hawkins, this makes Vettel an impressive role model.

The 27-year-old driver therefore believes it is important that there are figureheads like Vettel, because they are in the spotlight and take the step to make a difference. "The sport needs that," Hawkins said.
