Max Verstappen had to deal with a small disappointment today at the start of the second half of the season. During the second free practice in Spa, he crashed his car and the damage was considerable.
To ZiggoSport, however, Verstappen tells that everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. "No, the damage and consequences are not too bad. Luckily it was an old engine and a floor we weren't going to use. Not ideal, but fortunately has no consequences for tomorrow."

Engine status

Because now that Verstappen is already on his third engine, this is of course a dire situation. Because how many engines does the Dutchman have left?
"Three, but actually two that are alive and one is broken, there is a crack in it. After qualifying in Hungary they took the bodywork off and then they saw a leak and that engine is unfortunately beyond saving." The consequences for Verstappen are big, he also knows. He thinks that something needs to change in the rules about that.

"I've said before that it's something we need to look at in everyone. I think it makes people more aware of what you can do on a first lap, maybe you are just a little more careful compared to other drivers. Or you brake, a little earlier in the first corner. Driving the whole season with what I have now is not going to be it."
Verstappen will want to have a good start to the second half of the season next weekend, in which he will be hunting for first place in the championship.
