Verstappen nominated again for prestigious 2024 sports award

Max Verstappen has another chance to receive the Laureus Sports Award. The Dutchman is one of six nominees in the category. Red Bull Racing are also in with a chance of winning an award.

Every year, Laureus presents awards for global sports achievements. Verstappen already won the award for Sportsman of the Year in 2022 and 2023, having won the world title in previous years. In 2024, Verstappen has a chance to win the award again after the Red Bull Racing driver won 19 out of 22 Grands Prix in 2023.

Verstappen competes in the Sportsman of the Year category against tennis player Novak Djokovic, athletes Mondo Duplantis and Noah Lyles and footballers Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi. The 25th Laureus awards ceremony will take place in Madrid on Monday, 22 April.

Verstappen is not the only one from the F1 world to be nominated. Red Bull Racing are also nominated for best sports team. Red Bull Racing became world champions in F1, winning no less than 21 out of 22 Grands Prix. Red Bull are up against the Manchester City football team, the German men's basketball team, the Europe Ryder Cup Team (golf), the Spanish women's football team and the South African Rugby team.
