Verstappen makes great impression: 'For us he's just a superstar'

Max Verstappen won the Dutch Grand Prix convincingly on Sunday afternoon. The performance was not only noticed within the Formula 1 world, but also got applause from the football world.

During the broadcast of Rondo on Ziggo Sport Ronald de Boer and Marco van Basten talked extensively about the race in Zandvoort. The two men saw Verstappen excel and were also proud of the way the Dutch spectators showed.

"I think it's so great what he shows", De Boer stated. "The images speak for themselves. It's our national hero. It's impressive what a sportsman can do to a country. For us, he's just a superstar. The whole of the Netherlands goes crazy and we have seen that today. That's what I enjoy the most. That such a great guy can bring this about."

Van Basten was also impressed by Verstappen. "It's such a great sports performance that is seen worldwide. It's great for the Netherlands, it's great for the audience, it's great for him and also for the sport."
