Max Verstappen has revealed some of the reasoning behind previous technical issues their engine has had and spoke about the measures Honda take to improve reliability.
Honda and Red Bull have surprised many this season with Max Verstappen in inspired form in the latter stages of the opening half of the season. The Dutchman has picked up two race wins in Austria and Germany before pushing Hamilton all the way in Hungary.
Red Bull switched to a Honda power unit for the 2019 season having previously used a Renault engine. Verstappen spoke about the reasoning behind previous mechanical issues and what is being done differently.
"Last year there were mechanical problems with the car that had nothing to do with the power unit, but that was also because the reliability was never tested to the limit," Verstappen said as quoted by Motorsport.com.
"Honda spends so much time on the test bench. As a result, we also discover the limits of the parts on the car. We have not experienced that before.

"We never had an idea whether our car was strong enough or not. We only noticed that due to outages, so the entire preparation before you start a season is so much better. The car and the power unit are very reliable."
