Max Verstappen had a tough Friday in Great Britain. “A bad day,” the Red Bull driver summed up his first and second practice sessions at Silverstone.
Red Bull brought some updates to Silverstone this weekend, but so far they haven’t been working as expected. Verstappen ended the first practice in tenth place, after which the team decided to fit him with a new power unit. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to fix the issues, and the Dutch driver finished fifth in FP2.
Afterwards, Verstappen had little positive to say. "No, for me it was personally a pretty bad day," the Dutchman told Viaplay.
"The car had no balance and was also very difficult from corner to corner. A pretty bad day, I think, for us in general."
When asked to what extent the four-time world champion was hindered by the wind, he said: "A lot, but of course that's no excuse, because everybody has to deal with it? So it's not easy, but that's the same for everyone."

Verstappen lacks performance with the RB21

The Dutchman emphasized not being surprised by the lack of balance in the RB21: "Not really. I mean, every weekend is a different scenario, right? Now, it seems that our car is - with the wind here - quite sensitive to it. But overall, yes, it was not an easy day."
The Austrian racing team will do everything possible tonight to make some improvements for Saturday's qualifying, as Verstappen mentioned that he does have a few improvements in mind: "Maybe a few things that we will look into, but overall, I think I just lacked a bit of performance."
