Verstappen calm after strong winter test: 'The competition is not sitting still'

Max Verstappen doesn't want to blow his own trumpet just yet, but it's clear the Dutchman is looking forward to the start of the season. All the speculation is wasted on the Red Bull Racing driver.

Red Bull Racing had a strong winter test in Bahrain. It drove more laps than Mercedes, was faster than Mercedes and the balance of the RB16B also looked much better than Mercedes' W12. Still, it's only winter testing, and so Verstappen doesn't want to get too excited.

''It's always nice to have a test like this. Everything went smoothly, but of course there are no guarantees with that. We have to keep improving, because the competition is not sitting still either," said Verstappen to Formula1.com.

Besides that, everyone will have to wait until qualifying to see where they stand. In the winter test teams often hold back a bit, and between the test and the first race they might find something. ''It's waiting until qualifying to see how everyone is doing, but let's hope for a good race," concluded Verstappen.
