This F1-driver likes to see De Vries as teammate: 'He can handle it'

Since the start of Silly Season and his title win in Formula E, Nyck de Vries has been linked with a Formula 1 seat in 2022 several times. Not only Williams could offer him a seat if George Russell were to leave, but Alfa Romeo is reportedly also interested in the Mercedes driver. Williams driver Nicolas Latifi would like to welcome the driver at Williams in any case, he recently indicated.

"Absolutely," Latifi replied when asked by the Dutch branch of Motorsport Asked if he would like to have Nyck de Vries as his teammate at Williams.

"After the year we competed against each other in Formula 2, he definitely deserves a chance in Formula 1," Latifi continued. The two drivers were rivals in Formula 2. In 2019, de Vries won this championship, only to take the title in Formula E the year after.

Latifi concludes, "This year Nyck has had another good year in Formula E. If he were to get that second seat at Williams, and assuming I am still there, he would be a great teammate. He can definitely handle the level in Formula 1."
