"There was a good chance that we would no longer be here"

As for many other companies, 2020 was a year of survival for the Haas Formula 1 team. Of course other teams also had a hard time, but team boss Guenther Steiner says it really wasn't that bad or owner Gene Haas would have pulled the plug on the project.
Haas' F1 team is still considered a newcomer to the sport after five seasons. It has been a long time since a team was built from scratch and lasted so long. However, the drop in income due to the coronavirus crisis and the poor performance on the track have put Haas' future in doubt over the past season.

Steiner will be happy when 2020 is over

"We survived, we did well, but I think I will leave it at that. There was a good chance that we would no longer be here. However, we made it and we will stay for a while," is the brief reflection by Guenther Steiner to Motorsport.com.
So Haas signed the new Concorde Treaty, confirming at least its intention to commit to sport in the coming years. Steiner is also happy about this and can't wait to leave 2020 behind. "I am not really unhappy that it will end soon," said the Italian.
