Max Verstappen’s debut at the Nürburgring Nordschleife appears all set to happen, and updates regarding the Dutch driver’s imminent outing have continued to surface.
The Red Bull Racing driver, who is poised to compete in the weekend-long ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series, has continued to see the buzz around the race at the ‘Green Hell’ grow under the spotlight. This buzz reached a new height with the arrival of his jet at a private airport near the 20.8 km circuit.
Amid the endless talks surrounding Verstappen’s participation at the Nürburgring event, details of his likely race schedule for the weekend have now emerged.

Verstappen’s Nürburgring participation emerges

The four-time world champion, who bears a close affinity with endurance racing, is expected to compete in the GT4 category, largely due to the limitations surrounding his licence classification. With his sights set on racing in the GT3 category, Verstappen will likely only compete on Saturday, using two cars to complete seven laps each for two classified finishes.

This strategy would enable the Formula 1 driver to meet the required permit licence for the GT3 category without needing to race on Sunday. Though an entry for the four-time F1 champion remains a possibility in case the Saturday car fails to finish the race.
The broadcast of qualifying will begin at 8:15 CET. Race 7's coverage will start at 11:15 CET. These could be all followed via GPblog.
The spotlight will be on Verstappen – and for obvious reasons. While he continues to set the pace in the world of Formula 1, his last outing in May at the Nürburgring circuit saw him eclipse an unofficial lap record at the German track. Quite comically, he achieved this feat under the pseudonym Franz Hermann.
However, this weekend, Verstappen is not expected to have his sights on eclipsing lap records while driving in his GT4 cars, but rather on participation and reaching the required mileage that would see him qualify for a GT3 licence.
