Steiner wants to improve set-up first before Haas comes up with major upgrades

Haas F1 has made a good start to the 2022 Formula One season. Kevin Magnussen managed to score points twice in the two races that have been run so far. If we are to believe Guenther Steiner, upgrades are still coming for the Haas VF-22, although that is not the most important thing for the team boss.

Set-up now more important than upgrades

"We will bring upgrades," says Steiner in conversation with The Race. Despite that, Steiner says upgrades are not necessarily the most important part. Instead, Steiner hopes to take it easy in 2022 and put a lot of focus on improving the set-up of the cars.
"The biggest improvement would be the set-up at the moment. We have done not enough testing, there’s still things to come," continued the Italian team boss. This is not to say that the current set-up is not good, but rather that there is more to come when the team can work with the current car for longer. Steiner points out that Haas has driven far fewer kilometers since the start of the season than the big teams like Ferrari and Red Bull Racing have, for example.

Little data from Saudi Arabia

In addition to losing a lot of time during the test weeks, the team is also missing a lot of data from Saudi Arabia. During the free practices Kevin Magnussen barely got out of his garage, while Mick Schumacher crashed so hard in qualifying that he had to miss the entire race.
