Steiner no longer sees a midfield in F1: 'It's the top teams and the rest'

The midfield no longer exists in Formula 1. At least, that is the opinion of Guenther Steiner. Based on the winter test, the Haas team boss still sees a clear head but no tail at the current F1 grid.

Steiner sees no more midfield in F1

The midfield was very competitive in the 2022 F1 season and that is only likely to increase in 2023. In fact, according to Steiner, so much so that there won't even be a midfield anymore. "I think there is no midfield anymore. It’s the top teams and then the rest, I think. That is my opinion, seeing it now," he said according to PlanetF1.com.
In a Haas press release, he added that how each F1 team performs will vary from track to track. For that, it is important that the American team has its own house in order and therefore does not have to take advantage of others' bad luck, the team boss stressed: "You cannot base your performance on other people failing, you won’t get successful with that approach."
In 2023, Nico Hulkenberg will take over the seat from Mick Schumacher, who will join Mercedes as a test driver. Steiner is convinced he has made the right choice. "Nico has fitted in very well like he’s been here a long time, and the team is excited to be working with him. It’s the experience we wanted, and I think we’ve got it," Steiner concluded.
