Steiner honest: 'No team would be happy with Schumacher's performance'

Mick Schumacher has not yet left an impression this season as he did in 2021. Back then he was by far the boss of his then teammate Nikita Mazepin at Haas and expectations were high for 2022. However, with the arrival of Kevin Magnussen, it has become painfully clear that the German still has a long way to go in Formula One.

Within the team they realize that the Formula 2 champion still lacks speed to seriously compete for points, something Magnussen has already managed to do several times. Team boss Guenther Steiner is realistic to Sky Germany about Schumacher's performance. "The fact is that he hasn't scored any points yet and has already had two crashes. No team would be happy with that, but it is complete nonsense that we are putting Mick at a disadvantage or putting unnecessary pressure on him."

Time is ticking for Schumacher, who will need a good result to convince the team that he is the right driver for the American team for the next few years. According to Steiner, he knows that himself, so it is not necessary to put extra pressure on his shoulders.

After all, there is already enough pressure from the outside world. "I have no problem with Mick, but he has to understand that Formula 1 is a competitive sport where everyone expects him to perform."
