Schumacher: 'Of course I would like more of that'

Mick Schumacher had a tough first season at Haas. While the driver hoped he could compete with other drivers, nothing turned out to be further from the truth. Haas did not gain a single point and were at the bottom of the standings at the end of the season.

Although Haas knew in advance that they were in for a difficult year, the results must have been a disappointment for Guenther Steiner. Since the team was working behind the scenes on the car for 2022, Schumacher hopes to be able to compete for the points next season.

"We weren't as far apart as Williams was in 2019, so we had a few battles on the track. But of course I would like more of that," Schumacher spoke hopefully in an interview with Corriere dello Sport. "I really hope I can grow next year. That's what I'm focusing on."

At the end of last year, Haas decided to give Nikita Mazepin another chance in Formula 1. The Russian made a moderate impression with Haas last season, but the team apparently saw enough starting points, most notably his money, to continue the cooperation. Because of the new regulations, there might just be a few surprises in 2022.
