Schumacher dreams: 'My wish is to fight for the title next season

If there is one team that would like to forget the 2021 season, it is Haas. Before a single meter had been driven, the Americans already knew it would be a transition year. All hopes are pinned on the 2022 car that Haas has been working on all season.

Points

Haas have failed to pick up a single point this year. In fact, there wasn't a single moment of the season when there was a chance of scoring a single point. Following the introduction of the new regulations, Haas hopes to play a significant role in 2022. The goal? "Hopefully we'll be in the points regularly," says Mick Schumacher in conversation with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine. "After the first race we'll see if we can achieve that."

After two years in the rear, Haas will be happy to move the midfield. Podium places, even victories, that may not be realistic. When Schumacher is asked what he would like for next season, his answer is remarkable: "I would like to fight for the title next season. That's unrealistic, yes, but if I wouldn't want that, then I don't belong in Formula One."

Ferrari

Schumacher will be a reserve driver for Ferrari at a number of races next year. Should regular drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz be unavailable, the German could be called upon to temporarily take a seat in the car a few doors down. It is no secret that Ferrari wants to see Schumacher in the red car in the longer term.
