Sainz cleverly teamed up with Norris to beat Mercedes: 'It worked'

Carlos Sainz recorded a phenomenal victory at the Singapore Grand Prix. In the closing stages of the race, he cleverly teamed up with his former teammate Lando Norris to keep the Mercedes drivers behind.

"An incredible feeling, an incredible weekend. I want to thank everyone at Ferrari for this huge effort to turn this season around and win after a difficult start," Sainz began after the race.

"We did everything right this weekend and in the race, too. We did everything we had to do. We did it perfectly and took home the win, something all of Italy and Ferrari will be proud of today," he adds.

In the race's final laps, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton did everything in their power to snatch victory, but through a clever partnership with Lando Norris, Sainz managed to put a stop to that. "It was very close at the end. We gave Lando a bit of DRS to help him, and in the end, it worked," Sainz said.
