Mercedes has had a rough start to the season. Whereas Lewis Hamilton has guaranteed good performances in recent years, it is George Russell who is putting in the better results for the time being. According to the newcomer, however, Hamilton is getting there.
The German racing stable had been the best team on the grid since the hybrid era, which began in 2014. However, that changed this season when new regulations came into force. Among other things, these ensured that Mercedes suffered a lot from porpoising, for which it was not yet able to find a solution.

Russell supports teammate Hamilton at Mercedes

Prior to the season it seemed that Russell would have a hard time driving at a top team like Mercedes, but for now the pressure seems to do little to him. The fact that he has 21 points more than his teammate says a lot about the form the talented driver is in. In the media, however, Russell continues to express his confidence in Hamilton.
"Lewis has clearly got the pace," Russell stated in conversation with Sky Sports. "He's incredibly fast and he's showed that so far this year, but it's just been tricky for us as a team to get it done when the time is needed."
