Rudy van Buren has important role at Red Bull: 'I’m proud of this one'

Rudy van Buren reveals he will be joining Red Bull Racing as Simulator Test and Development Driver. The Dutchman is keen to help Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez develop their car as much as possible behind the scenes.

Verstappen and Van Buren are certainly not strangers to each other, as they often perform on behalf of Team Redline. At Red Bull, he has the opportunity to help the reigning world champion and the Mexican to achieve top performances.

Although both men have a good relationship, Van Buren emphasised in conversation with The Race that he himself has forced the opportunity. "I’m sure if he was against it then it would not have happened," Van Buren says. "And I’m sure it didn’t hurt being inside the sim racing world together with him and knowing each other. But if my relationship was good and my work in the sim was not then I would not get the job."

Van Buren emphasises that he is putting himself at the service of Red Bull and doing everything he can to be faster. "It’s one of the moments in life when you can say, ‘I’m proud of this one’'," he told the medium.
