Romain Grosjean believes that Haas still have the ability to finish in the midfield despite their poor start to the 2019 season. The team have been having a lot of difficulties getting their tyres into the right temperature window meaning that their performances during the Grand Prix weekends have suffered. The Frenchman still believes the car is fast and that if they fix the issue they will be competitive once again.
“The baseline of the car is still the best in the midfield, to be fair,” he told motorsport.comI believe downforce and so on is there, but if you can’t get the tires to work, whatever you have, it doesn’t seem to be working.
“I don’t think it’s [due to] downforce, I believe we have more downforce than some other cars in the midfield. They can run the tires, so it has to be somewhere else.”
“I’m going to try the update for Barcelona, it’s quite a big one and hopes it helps,” he said.“But if we don’t get the tires in the window it’s just pointless.”
Haas will hope that the upgrade puts them back in contention and that they can try and improve on last years result and battle for the 'best of the rest.'
