Ricciardo won't be number one at McLaren: ''Not as long as I'm team boss''

For a big contract and a two-year deal Daniel Ricciardo will go from Renault to McLaren in 2021, but anyone who thinks he can walk straight into the big contract as the new number one, is wrong.
''As long as I'm the team boss, no one at the start of the season will ever be the number one. If you still have such a long way to go as we have, you just have to have two strong drivers equal to each other, as Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris have already shown in 2019,'' says Andreas Seidl to Sky Sports.

Ricciardo not the number 1

Still the expectation is that Ricciardo will take the reins at McLaren. Time is running out for the Australian and he will want to make a clear statement when he arrives. If McLaren is going to fight for the title again, he has to be the man to take it. Seidl has no doubts about his qualities.
''With Lando and Daniel we have another great duo. Not only sporty, but also when it comes to presenting McLaren as a brand'', concludes Seidl, who will be a race winner with Ricciardo in 2021. Now the question is whether McLaren can meet expectations and finally find its way back to the top.
