Red Bull Racing has been behind the times when it comes to speed compared to Mercedes. Red Bull may not have the fastest car, but the British team stands above the rest of the field with their pit-stop times.
Last season
Max Verstappen's pitstop team broke the world record. But also this year we can often see a pitstop of under 2 seconds at Red Bull.
As if it wasn't fast enough
The speed of the Red Bull pit stops since this year, is explained by a special item produced in collaboration with sponsor ExxonMobil. According to the team, on
redbull.com, this promotes the
"consistency and efficiency" of the pit stops. It is a lubricant that is applied to the 'wheel guns' in order to secure the wheel as easily and smoothly as possible.
This is how Red Bull partly explains the team's incredible pit stop performance this year. Although that doesn't take anything away from the performance of the team itself, which has great team members. For example, the high quality of the mechanics was proven once again, during the extremely fast repair to the car of Verstappen for the GP of Hungary.
