Raikkonen aims to "keep out of trouble" in Sochi after Singapore crash

Alfa Romeo Racing star Kimi Raikkonen has said that his game plan for the upcoming Russian Grand Prix is simple, as the veteran just wants to drive a clean weekend and to "stay out of trouble".

This could well be referring to the 39-year-old's previous two race weekends, which both featured crashes for his C38. At Monza, Raikkonen spun in FP1 and crashed in Q3 of qualifying, while his Singapore Grand Prix ended early thanks to a collision with Daniil Kvyat as the Russian failed to land an optimistic move at turn one.

Looking ahead, it will be important for Raikkonen and Alfa alike to simply get some mileage without any drama and to be consistent.

“The plan for Sochi is not different from what we aimed for so far: we need a clean weekend where we can show how good our car is and keep out of trouble,” the 2007 world champion said.

“I haven’t been very lucky in Russia in previous years but hopefully we can turn the record around this time,” last season's number four in Russia said.
